“And I know Fuck is a bad word, but it sounds so good. Good, like flipping off the preacher whenever he forgets that Eve was Adam’s teacher, ‘cause apples are fucking healthy you patriarchal piece of shit.”
“I’m not sad, but the boys who are looking for sad girls always find me. I’m not a girl anymore and I’m not sad anymore. You want me to be a tragic backdrop so that you can appear to be illuminated, so that people can say ‘Wow, isn’t he so terribly brave to love a girl who is so obviously sad?’ You think I’ll be the dark sky so you can be the star? I’ll swallow you whole.”

#okay let’s talk about the tendency to humanize the devil #because it’s been happening since Milton and it’s really interesting to me #I’d like the say that it’s because humanity is much more comfortable with its capacity for evil #the devil feels more human because we shake hands with him more than god #(we fell; he fell; we’re on the same level rather than having to crane our necks to catch a glimpse of white white robes) #but we are willing to ascribe weakness to the devil which is even more interesting me #and not even glamorous weaknesses like Milton’s ambition; there is nothing glorious about a devil afraid and lonely #I don’t actually think I have any conclusions to draw; I just think it’s interesting
“You shall not twist my bones into a star’s shape, nor plant my hair as roots for the dreams of the living; and if you open my heart and run your poet’s fingers over its walls and cushions you will find it is like yours, dark.”
